The saying -
1. Shakespearian: A wry, philosophical reflection on mortality and the decay of thought. -Shakespeare's play Hamlet.
2. Worm in the Brain: A deeply ingrained, irrational, or nagging obsession. It is often used to describe intrusive, repetitive negative thoughts that you cannot seem to dislodge or stop focusing on.

The Mind x Worm explores themes of existential dread, mental instability, and the struggle to distinguish reality from internal perceptions. The lyrics are meant to depict a sense of fragmentation, where the narrator feels that their identity is being consumed or manipulated by an internal force. There is a desperate plea for connection and validation from an external source to help anchor them amidst this psychological decay. The song uses imagery of crumbling structures and the questioning of what is real to highlight a profound sense of alienation and the fragility of the human condition when faced with internal chaos.

So when my body turns to bone,

When my hands turn to stone.

Will you still hold them?

(Hold them)

And when my mind turns on me,

In the middle of the night.

You see.

Would you hold it?

(Hold it)

Verse 1
Verse 2

I can see the worm,

Sinking deep inside.

Clutching to my mind,

Burrowed in the side.

Keeps me warm and fed,

It whispers in my head.

That this is all there is,

The water where I swim.

Pre-Chorus
Pre-Chorus

'Cause it's not my fault,

That my brain made a cult.

And all of its followers are me.

But don't say it's not so.

'Cause you already know,

It don't take a genius to see

Chorus

What is real?

Are you just a sign of wisdom,

Carved in me?

What is real?

Just inherited beliefs,

They'll leave me.

The whole thing is crumbling.

This thing is falling apart.

The whole thing is crumbling.

This thing is falling apart.

Verse 3

Oh, when you close your eyes,

I can see the white of mine.

You can hold it.

(Hold it)

Oh, and I wonder how,

I'm standing here still now.

You can hold me.

(Hold me)

Verse 4
Verse 4

Everywhere I go,

The scenery, the show.

Am I only flesh and bone?

Is this only stone?

What is real?

Is it only you and me?

If I found you,

Would you finally let me be,

And leave me?

Pre-Chorus 2

'Cause it's not my fault,

That my brain made a cult.

And all of its followers are me.

But don't say it's not so.

'Cause you already know,

It don't take a genius to see.

Chorus 2

What is real?

Are you just a sign of wisdom,

Carved in me?

What is real?

Just inherited beliefs,

They'll leave me.

The whole thing is crumbling.

This thing is falling apart.

The whole thing is crumbling.

This thing is falling apart.

Bridge

So take my hand,

I understand,

No need to speak.

Just take my hand,

And understand,

You're real to me.

Verse 5

The whole thing is crumbling,

This thing is falling apart.

(You're real to me)

The whole thing is crumbling,

This thing is falling apart.

(Just take my hand)

The whole thing is crumbling,

This thing is falling apart.

You're real to me.
